Sleepover!

As I write, the first Feasel family sleepover is coming to an end. Steve and I invited four of his cousins to spend the night in our new apartment and they were so excited. I must admit, we were a tad nervous to have four kids in our little apartment, but we all had a blast.

Syd and Steve made a "nest" of blankets and were "pretending" to sleep. She LOVED my fur blanket.

Then, the nest turned into a "cave" under the table. We found out our free table is PERFECT for caves because the blankets can be tucked into the decoration under the tabletop. Syd slept in there all night.
We got a Wii the day that the kids came to sleep over. They were very excited. Notice the rug by Whitey....he was supposed to stay on that! He's a wild man!

Even three year old Syd got to play.
She loved "rockin' out" at guitar hero...
...but doing Steve's hair was just as fun.
We stopped at the retro candy shop before taking them to our apartment. Syd found a candy bracelet...
...and Whitey found candy cigarettes.
Steve "rocked out" for a while...
...but he wore out pretty quickly. Four kids are a LOT to handle!

Gadget Post Addition

I was informed today by my fabulous husband that I haven't done something that I was supposed to do. Oops! What was it?! I haven't blogged about our new knives. Serious stuff...I know. For men, it is.
A family friend of the Woods got us a set of Wusthof knives and a knife block! We were very shocked because we never expected to have something so nice in our whole house. The funny thing is, they are so nice that we never use them! I have been waiting for Steve to use them first because he was so excited about them, but he claims he's waiting for "a special occasion."

Here they are! The only time they are touched is when Steven pulls them out to hear the "samuri sword" sound they make.

I guess it's ok that we don't use the fancy knives...we do have plenty of others that we refuse to get rid of.

The Apartment

This one is for you, Kar. I couldn't take pictures of everything because some places are so small...and some places aren't cleaned up...but you'll get the idea. :)

Some of these are fuzzy....sorry! This is our free table (we found it by the dumpster) and our "office" area. Notice the kitchen to the left.

Here's our extra bedroom. It's the workout/video game/hedgehog/aerogrow/storage room.

Here's the living room. It's the same room as the dining room/office. :)

Aerogrow update! All of the herbs have sprouts but 1. It's been about a week since we started them. Pretty neat!

Whitey's Game

One thing we like about living close to Steven's hometown is the fact that we're finally close to family. We LOVE Steve's cousins, the Feasel fam. Last Sunday, we headed to Marshall to spend time with his family. We even got to see Whitey play baseball.

Whitey did a GREAT job!

I have a job!

I just got the official word this morning. I have a JOB! Really, I still have my old job for the summer, but...it's summer...and I am a teacher...so I am not working. Now, I also have a job for the 2008-2009 school year.

I will be a fourth grade teacher at Gordon Elementary School in Marshall, Michigan. Fourth grade is good because that's what I taught in KY. I was actually hoping for a different grade, but as my very smart husband pointed out, "You're changing states and schools...isn't that enough change for you?" He's so right.
Gordon is the school that Woodz went to when he was a little guy. He's really excited because now he can go in and "check it out."

Now, Marshall is about 40 minutes away from where we live right now in Kzoo so the new task for now is to find a house to move into in the fall. We're hoping for a place inbetween Marshall and Kzoo. Currently, I am just h appy that we both will continue to have incomes. Now, I can relax and enjoy the rest of my LONG summer because school doesn't start in MI until Sept!

Honeymoon Fun

Here are the snorkeling pictures. They aren't as cool as actually being there.

We also went kayaking a couple of times. It's so much fun! I want one.

Gadgets Galore!

We are so excited to have all of our wedding gifts out and in use. I thought I would blog about a few of our favorites.

Currently, I am listening to the sound of our new breadmaker. I am making my first batch of wheat bread. I can't say I LOVE the bread maker, because I don't know if it works yet, but I sure hope so. If you have any good wheat bread/bread maker recipes, send them my way.
Another thing we got right before the wedding for a joint birthday gift is the kitchenaid mixer. I think the mixer was really for me, but the things I make w/ the mixer are for Steve. So far, I have made snickerdoodles, toffee/chocolate chip cookies, and red velvet cookies. Yum!
Some things that I had when I lived in KY I didn't use much, but now that I have them here, I have been using them more. A couple years ago, Steve bought me an espresso maker. We both use it to make iced lattes. We don't get into making the fancy drinks (Starbucks down the road does that for us), but it's so simple to make a latte in the morning. We have even started to freeze espresso into ice cubes so it doesn't water down the lattes. (I have too much time on my hands.)
Finally, our most exciting gadget is our solution to last year's balcony gardening disaster. I think I posted on my blog last summer that we tried having a tomato plant and some other veggies on the balcony and we ended up with the largest tomato plant ever with only one tomato. This summer, we have a much cooler balcony, but it hardly gets any sun. So, for Steve's b-day/graduation, I bought my farmer-at-heart husband an Aerogrow. It's pretty neat. You buy the "pods" for whatever you want to grow, set it all up, and watch it grow. I think our herb garden is supposed to be ready in about 5 weeks. Then, I am hoping to use our dehydrator to dry some herbs because the next thing going into the aerogrow is tomatoes!
I noticed today that the basil has started to sprout (after just two days) so check back to see sprouts!

We received a bunch of bed bath and beyond gift cards, and even though we can't fit any more gadgets into our little apartment now, if you have a favorite gadget, leave a comment about it. We LOVE gadgets!

First Comes Love, Then Comes Marriage, Then Comes......The HONEYMOON!

Haha...no "Then comes Megan pushing a baby carriage" here! Not for a while, but the honeymoon was great!

We left on the Monday after the wedding for the honeymoon. We went to the Whyndam Sugar Bay Resort for an all-inclusive week of honeymooning. We had a BLAST. St. Thomas is BEAUTIFUL!

Ahhh, the hammock on the beach! Oh how we miss it!
There were TONS of iquanas at the resort. They really like the fruit from the fruity drinks. I am surprised they could walk straight. They weren't too scared of people so you could get pretty close to them. They loved my red camera so we could get really close.

We had a bayview room. We could see all of the sailboats going in an out of the bay. We also were able to watch the sunset before dinner every night.

We had a few choices for dinner, but Caribe was our favorite. It was pretty fancy and reminded us of our favorite show, Hell's Kitchen (for the food, not the cursing).
We went sailing for one afternoon. We sailed for two hours and snorkeled for one hour. We had lots of fun! I will try to post the snorkeling pictures once they are developed. We took an underwater camera with us!

Not only were there iquanas, but they also had these crazy birds. I thought they were neat to look at until I learned that they like to steal fruity drinks when people set them down! Darn birds!

That's it in a nutshell! I did get may hair cut at the spa, but I don't have any pictures of it, yet. I will in the next week...promise.

We're Married!

Welcome to our new blog. With our new start as a married couple, I thought I would start a new blog. I can't promise that I will be a "good blogger" and blog often, but I will do my best.

With that said, here are WEDDING PICTURES!

I always dreamed of having my wedding pictures taken by this fountain.
After the wedding, the wedding party took a trolley ride. We had a blast!

Steven's dad and Sydney, our flower girl. She LOVED all the attention and pictures.
Our cake! Strawberry, chocolate caramel, and vanilla

The first dance...and the second time I cried.
My mother-in-law and mom

M and W on my shoes for Megan and Woodz...thanks Kar!

First, Syd fell asleep by the water table, then Lauren joined her for a bit. Finally, Whitey found a bed on some chairs. :)

Thanks to everyone who helped out with our wonderful day! It was fabulous.
