I never thought I would be able to post this BUT, we're CLOSING on our house on FRIDAY! :)

We close at 1:00. Then, we'll have posession. Sooooo, what else is there to do other than have a party!?!?

I know most people who read this don't live in the Marshall area, but if you do, Friday night, our house, you're invited. :)

Haircut

I promised my mom I would post a picture of my new haircut because it's the shortest it has ever been in my LIFE!

I just got it cut today. It's pretty short, but I think I like it. I guess it will "grow" on me....and it will grow out.

Nevermind the large bags under my eyes. It was a long day at new teacher orientation.

Working Hard on Being a "Woods"

This week is the BIGGEST week of the Woods family summer. Really, to Steve, there is no event more important in a summer than this week. Most of his aunts, uncles, and cousins feel the same way. What's so exciting, you ask?

Well, it's the Calhoun County 4-H fair! Duh!

Now, I must admit. I was excited for the fair as well. Who could resist all that yummy food? Apparently, I had the wrong idea of a fair. What I used to go to back home was a "carnival" (fair w/o animals).

Yeah....the ANIMALS! Steve couldn't stand the idea of me going to the fair w/o him so we headed over there Monday night to walk around. We picked up some yummy food and headed for the BARNS.

First, we walked through the bunny barn. They were SO cute! I wanted to take them all home to cuddle with them. Then, it was over to the chickens! Let me just say I need to increase my lung capacity because I had to hold my breath all the way through. After the chickens, we visited the pigs. They were kinda cute and pretty clean so I was ok w/ that. THEN....the steers. Now, the pigs were behind a gate so they couldn't get out.....but NOT the STEERS! What's that all about? Honestly, we walked down a row of steers that were just tied up with a rope. These steer weighed 1000 to 1600 pounds. I am pretty sure if they wanted to take a trip out to get some funnel cakes....they could! Not to mention the fact that all their butts were toward the aisle so you had to walk in the MIDDLE so you didn't get pooped on.

Honestly, who would want to put themselves through that? STEVE! That's right, my hubby was a belt buckle wearin', poop shovelin' 4-H'r!

Now, I am a Woods now, and this is a way of life so I decided to be supportive and watch 6 of Steve's cousins show these beasts on Wednesday. It was definitely an eye opening experience. I'm glad I went, but I think when our little "Woodzs" decide to walk these 1600 lb beasts on a leash in the middle of tons of people....I will be vacationing on the Ohio river. They scare me!

With that said....we are going back to the fair...TODAY. Yeah...today is the auction. I figure, if I am going to visit the fair, I better see it all. After all...I am a Woods. :)

Happy 2 Month Anniversary to US!

So here's the house update:

The sellers finally signed the papers to agree on the selling price for the house so pending all the fun inspections and loan paperwork....it's ours!

I was told today that we might even be able to close by August 20th instead of the original date of August 29th!

We're going shopping this weekend :) We need a refrigerator and range, and Steve's parents are buying us bedroom furniture.

I never knew buying a house could be so complicated.

Our HOUSE is a Very, Very, Very Fine House

So, we FINALLY agreed on a price for this house. I never knew it was so hard to "deal" with sellers of houses. In the end, we got the house for just what we were looking for. We are SO happy about it! Of course, there are still more hoops to jump through...mainly paperwork and inspections, but we should be able to call it OUR HOUSE real soon!

Here's the front. Right inside those walls is the living room. Check out the big windows on the left side. They are so great, and let so much light in.
This is what you see when you walk inside the big double doors. There's a coat closet on the left. If you go left, there is the living room. If you go straight there is the kitchen. Stairs are to the right. You can go 1/2 flight up to the bedrooms or 1/2 flight down to the extra rooms/basement.

This is part of the living room. I love this big fireplace, but I am pretty bummed there is no mantle...WHERE are we going to hang our STOCKINGS?!?!?! (Steven wasn't too happy that was all I was concerned about...haha) Steve said he'd build us a mantle....whew! I was also concerned about washing those windows up there....that'll never happen...haha.
This cute little "den" will be our office. It's right off of the living room. It's the only room with hardwood floors (for now).
Here is the kitchen. I am not thrilled with the cabinets so I am trying to persuade Steve to let me paint them. We will have a table by those huge windows.
If you look out the kitchen/eating area windows, you can see our fabulous deck. It's pretty big and will be great for grilling.
Here's our BIG backyard. Notice the SCREENED in treehouses with a connecting bridge. Steve's cousins are really excited about that.

If you take the steps down from the entryway, here is where you end up. This will be our gameroom where we keep our video games and board games. There is also a bathroom and laundry room on this level as well as a mudroom that connects to the garage. The door you see goes out to the backyard.

Here's the big laundry room! I am excited about the counter and storage space!

Ok, this is my least favorite part of the house that I am just going to have to deal with. This is the bathroom that is on the top level. We will use it fairly often because there isn't a bathroom on the main level. It will also be there for our guests....and it's BROWN (and blue)! I know it could be worse. In our search we found an all PINK bathroom, but still...it's not my favorite.

That's not all of the house, but the most interesting parts. There are three bedrooms upstairs that just look like empty rectangles as well as a less finished "basement" area with lots of storage space.
