Mudroom Redo

In my opinion, every house (especially every house with a pet), needs a mudroom. I love ours because it holds my collection of coats, shoes, and junk that piles up throughout the week. It's also where Moose eats, and we keep all of his "stuff."

A month or so ago, Steve decided to flatten out some of the paneling that was warped. Since he had to take it off, I decided we should go ahead and paint it. After that, it was one thing after another. So, here's our new mudroom!

Steve made new coat racks so we could hang all of my coats, purse, keys, and lunchbox.
Here's a closeup of the coat rack. I love the metal.
Steve also made some metal edged shelves for our hats, gloves, scarves, and Moose's treats. Hopefully in the next few months or so I will be able to switch the winter stuff out for sunscreen and pool towels!

Here's Moose's new raised feeder (aka table). He loves it. :)

And the Worst Post-Superbowl Hangover Goes to...

*drumroll please*

Moose!
We had a great Superbowl party on Sunday night complete with all the fried food you could eat. Moose was lovin' the company as you can see in the picture above.
The guys fried smelt (tiny "northern" fish), wings, pickles, sweet potatoes and candy bars, but apparently, Moose was a little upset he slept through the meal.

By the time the game was over and our friends left, we quicly picked up the necessary stuff and went to bed. Monday, I went to work, came home, and let Moose out to play...as usual. When he came back in, he was acting a little funny. Then, it all went downhill from there.

You see, Moose was a little upset he wasn't involved in the frying fun and decided to drink 1/2 gallon of fryer grease/oil that was left on the porch. He then threw it all up on our carpet and couch.

I quickly called the vet and they told me to keep an eye on him, but by Tuesday after work, I realized it was much worse. Moose was so dehydrated his hair was falling out and he was obviously losing weight. He didn't want to drink water or even move.

So I called the vet in a panic and loaded him up in my car. It's a good thing we went! Moose had lost over 10 pounds and had a fever of 104. He ended up getting an IV and two shots while we were there.

They also sent us home with a weeks' worth of medicine, special food, and puppy pads to help with future messes.
Moose's favorite was the syringe they gave us to help him drink. He wasn't a fan at first, but as the day went on, he was drinking out of it like a champ.
Luckily, I had a snow day on Wednesday so I spent the day feeding Moose pills, giving him water, and cleaning up messes. Moose spent the day sleeping on the couch surrounded by a sea of sheets to catch any future messes.
He had lost so much weight and was so exhausted. It was a pretty sad sight.

Finally, on Wednesday night he decided to drink water on his own and eat a bit. Now, he's eating like a champ and Steve has put him on a serious weight gaining plan.

Today, he had his third bath in 5 days, and we headed to Petco to celebrate the end of "The Hangover."He is still working on gaining back the pounds he lost and getting his energy back, but we're happy to have the "old Moosey" back.

Go Colts!

*It's only cool to match your dog if you are supporting the Colts...I think.
